Paradigm Engineers and Consultants, PLLC is proud to provide modern Land Planning services throughout the North Florida and South Georgia areas. Our projects are typically in the land development, municipal infrastructure and architectural sectors of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

The Canadian Institute of Planners provides the following definitions of Land Planning, "planning means the scientific, aesthetic, and orderly disposition of land, resources, facilities and services with a view to securing the physical, economic and social efficiency, health and well-being of urban and rural communities."

Hippodamus, a Greek who lived from 498 BCE to round 408 BCE, is considered by many to be the Father of City Planning. His designs of the ancient Greek cities of Miletus and Alexandria used the now familiar grid-like pattern of layout. Hippodamus’ grid plan was the basis for many subsequent Greek and Roman cities. It is still the paradigm for land planning and development in much of the world. However, modern land planning in developed countries must consider environmental and other factors that were not relevant in ancient times. The grid pattern may not be the best plan for growth today.

Land planning is an important social tool for ensuring that land is used efficiently for the benefit of the overall economy and to protect the environment. Quality of life is enhanced where proper uses of land planning techniques are implemented. Land Planning encompasses many different disciplines. Engineers, architects, landscape architects, geologists, transportation planners, environmental scientists, regulatory personnel, etc. typically work in collaboration to plan for growth of the urban environment. It requires vision to understand how an individual project design and/or development rules can affect and be affected by the surrounding environment.

Most of the urban and regional land planning is done by the regulatory authorities and is promulgated by the establishment of land development rules. The basic core of modern urban land planning involves zoning and transportation infrastructure planning. Land planning performed by design firms such as Paradigm Engineers and Consultants is typically done at a more localized level – your project.

Our clients’ projects are carefully integrated within the framework of prevailing land development rules and regulations to produce a design that meets the client’s needs, yet meet the intent of the land planning goals, objectives and policies of the host community. In order to do this, we have established strong relationships with the regulatory community. Over the years Paradigm Engineers and Consultants has built a reputation of integrity with the agency personnel. The benefit to the client is quick approvals for your projects.
